More than makeup. A place to build what comes next.
Gajahasta is building a new kind of future for makeup education in India — starting with the individual, and growing towards an institution.
This is what Gajahasta stands for.
Gajahasta began with a problem we experienced firsthand: learning makeup often tells you how to do something, but not what comes next. There is plenty of information, but very little direction — and even less structure for people who want to build a real career in makeup.
We wanted to change that. So we started with self-grooming, creating a space where makeup is taught with understanding, intention and a clear path forward.
But the vision goes much further — to build Gajahasta into a dedicated makeup college in India, where makeup can be learned, explored and pursued as a serious creative profession.
Gajahasta opened its doors on 15 March 2026.
The person who started it.
Gajahasta started with my own experience of finishing makeup training and finding myself unsure of where to go from there. I knew I wanted to build a career in makeup, but the path ahead wasn’t as clear as I thought it would be.
That uncertainty made me realise how many others must be standing in the same place — with the interest, the talent and the ambition, but without a clear direction.
Gajahasta grew from that realisation. What started as a question about my own future became a vision for building something that could help others find theirs.
The woman behind the teaching.
When Gajahasta was taking shape, I knew the teaching had to be in the right hands. Not just someone skilled at makeup, but someone who genuinely understood how to teach it.
I found Rekha on Instagram, and one conversation was enough to know she was the right person. With 14 years of experience, London training and a natural ability to make people feel comfortable while learning, she brings exactly the kind of educator Gajahasta needed.
Patient, grounded and deeply invested in her students, she is an important part of what we are building.
