Self-Grooming Workshops in Bangalore: What to Expect

You’ve watched the tutorials. You’ve bought the products. You’ve followed every step, blending your foundation until your arm hurts. And somehow, the result still doesn’t look quite right.

Maybe your foundation looks grey by midday. Maybe your contour looks muddy, or your makeup looks effortless on someone else but feels completely wrong on your own face.

The problem might not be your technique. It might be that you’ve been learning to recreate someone else’s makeup instead of understanding your own face.

That’s where a self-grooming workshop comes in.

At Gajahasta, Bangalore, we teach you how to understand your skin, identify what works for your features, and create makeup looks you can confidently recreate yourself. The goal isn’t to transform you into someone else. It’s to help you figure out what works for you.

What Is a Self-Grooming Workshop?

A self-grooming workshop teaches you to do your own makeup and hair, with techniques adapted to your skin, features, lifestyle and personal preferences.

Unlike a typical makeup demonstration, where you watch an artist work on someone else, a hands-on workshop lets you practise the techniques on your own face. You learn not just what to do, but why you’re doing it.

At Gajahasta, this means understanding your skin type, choosing suitable foundation shades, working with your undertone, learning application techniques and creating looks for everyday life and special occasions.

Our workshops are designed for beginners and anyone who has struggled to make online makeup tutorials work for them. You don't need prior experience or an elaborate makeup collection to begin.

What to Expect at a Gajahasta Workshop

1Understanding your skin and features

Before learning application techniques, you need to understand what you're working with. You'll learn about your skin type, skincare routines, skin tone, undertones and facial structure.

These fundamentals help you make more informed decisions about products, shades and placement rather than relying on guesswork.

2Learning makeup through practice

You'll work through everyday makeup and learn how to transition it into a party-ready look. Depending on your workshop, you'll also explore smokey eyes, contouring, highlighting and easy hairstyles that complement your face.

The emphasis is on practical skills you can use independently, not simply memorising steps from a demonstration.

3Techniques suited to Indian skin

Makeup doesn't exist in isolation from the person wearing it. Warm undertones, pigmentation, oiliness and Bangalore's humidity can all influence how products look and wear throughout the day.

At Gajahasta, techniques are taught with these considerations in mind, helping you understand how to work with your skin rather than piling on products to correct every perceived imperfection.

4Guidance beyond the session

Learning makeup takes practice. That's why both workshops include post-session feedback from your educator, Rekha Krishnamurthy, so you can ask questions, share your attempts and work through difficulties as you practise at home.

With over 14 years of professional makeup experience, including bridal and editorial work, Rekha brings practical knowledge of different faces, skin types and real-world makeup needs into her teaching.

Which Gajahasta Workshop Is Right for You?

We offer two experiences, depending on how much guidance you want and how personalised you'd like your learning to be.

Unnati Growth

₹8,000  |  Group workshop  |  6 hours across two sessions

Unnati is designed for those who want to become confident doing their own everyday and occasion makeup without depending on someone else.

You'll learn to identify your skin type, understand your facial features, establish a suitable skincare routine, create an everyday makeup look and transition it into party makeup. The workshop also covers a wearable smokey eye, contouring, highlighting and two easy hairstyles that complement your face.

Unnati is hands-on, with a maximum of six participants per batch. You receive personalised guidance while learning alongside others, plus two weeks of feedback support after the workshop.

It is available online or in person at the Gajahasta studio in Bangalore.

Unnati is for you if: you want a practical foundation in makeup, want to stop guessing which techniques work on you, and want to feel more confident getting ready independently.

Shringar Adornment

₹18,000  |  One-on-one  |  Two sessions plus a personal shopping session

Shringar takes the learning further by building a makeup and grooming system around you.

It covers everything in Unnati, with additional attention to colour analysis, your personal style, lifestyle and the products that suit your features. You'll explore your skin tone and undertone, understand which colours complement you, and learn to make makeup and grooming choices that feel natural to your everyday life.

One of Shringar's key features is the dedicated in-person shopping session with Rekha. Instead of buying products because they're trending or recommended in a reel, you'll receive guidance at makeup counters to identify suitable shades, select products within your budget and build a personal makeup kit you'll actually use.

The experience is entirely one-on-one, allowing the learning to be tailored to your questions, preferences and needs. You also receive one month of post-session feedback support.

Shringar is for you if: you want a more personalised approach, need clarity about your colours and products, and want a makeup routine and kit that work together with your lifestyle.

Do You Need to Bring Your Own Makeup?

No. Gajahasta provides the products and tools needed for your workshop. However, bringing your existing makeup is encouraged. It gives Rekha an opportunity to help you understand which products work for you, which don't, and how to use what you already own more effectively.

You don't need prior makeup experience, either. The workshops are designed for beginners, including those who have tried learning through tutorials but still feel uncertain about their technique.

What Will You Leave With?

The outcome isn't simply a finished makeup look at the end of a session.

You'll leave with a clearer understanding of your skin, a practical set of techniques, and the ability to make more informed decisions about your makeup. You'll know how to approach your routine instead of starting from scratch every time you get ready.

Of course, confidence comes with practice. The workshop gives you the understanding and hands-on experience; continued practice helps turn that knowledge into muscle memory.

Ready to Learn Makeup for Your Own Face?

You don't need another tutorial made for someone else's face. You need to understand your own.

Whether you choose Unnati for practical, everyday makeup skills or Shringar for a completely personalised makeup and grooming experience, Gajahasta is designed to help you move from guessing to knowing.

Visit gajahasta.com/workshops to explore both experiences and find the one that suits you.
